Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about RunPulse
General
What is RunPulse?
RunPulse is an AI-powered running analytics platform that automatically calculates your VMA, maximum heart rate, and personalized training zones from your Strava activities. Our artificial intelligence analyzes your performance history to provide you with accurate metrics without the need for lab tests.
Is RunPulse free?
Yes! RunPulse offers a free Starter plan that includes Strava sync, manual VMA calculation (2 times/month), and training zones. For runners who want automatic recalculation after every run, the Premium plan (€9.99/month) is available.
How do I get started?
Simply click 'Sign in with Strava' to authorize the connection. Our AI will then analyze your activity history and calculate your VMA, max HR, and training zones in seconds. No lab test required!
AI Training Plans
How do I create an AI training plan?
Go to your Profile → Training Plan, choose your race (5km, 10km, half-marathon, or marathon), enter your goal time (optional), and select your start or race date. Our AI will generate your first week immediately, then create subsequent weeks progressively based on your actual performance.
Are training plans free?
Creating a single-race plan is FREE for all users! You can generate 1 plan per month with the Starter plan. Premium features (annual progression, multi-race plans, unlimited plans) are available with the Premium plan (€9.99/month).
How do plans adapt to my progress?
Plans use progressive generation: each week is created based on your current VMA and recent performance. If your fitness improves, the AI automatically adjusts paces. You can also pause your plan for injury or breaks, and the AI will intelligently adjust your return with reduced intensity.
Can I pause or modify my plan?
Yes! You can pause your plan anytime (injury, illness, travel, fatigue). When you resume, the AI regenerates remaining weeks with appropriate adaptations: reduced intensity, longer recovery periods, and progressive return. You can also add extra races or workouts to your plan.
VMA and Calculations
How is my VMA calculated?
Our AI analyzes your running activities to identify the best 6-minute segments. It applies altitude correction (ITRA formula) and uses sports science formulas to estimate your VMA. Official tests (half-cooper, cooper, 1500m, 2000m) are automatically detected for maximum accuracy.
Is the automatic calculation accurate?
Yes! Our algorithm uses proven sports science methods and includes altitude correction. For runners with official VMA tests in their Strava history, accuracy is excellent (±0.2 km/h). For segment-based calculation, precision is typically ±0.5 km/h compared to lab tests.
Can I manually enter my VMA?
Absolutely! If you've had a lab VMA test, you can manually enter the value. This will take priority over automatic calculation. You can switch between methods at any time from your profile.
Strava Integration
Why does RunPulse need access to my Strava data?
RunPulse analyzes your running activities (distance, time, altitude, heart rate) to calculate your VMA, detect your max HR, and generate your personalized training zones. We only read your data - we never modify or delete anything on Strava.
Are my activities synced automatically?
Yes! With all plans, your activities are automatically saved via Strava webhooks. VMA recalculation is manual (Starter) or automatic after each run (Premium), depending on your plan.
